We believe in working together

Successful cooperation between parents/carers and the key persons is important because it also has an effect on your child's development.

We encourage communication between ourselves and the parents/carers to help us plan our special events such as Sports Day and Our Nativity Play.

We have regular Nursery/Home opportunities such as the "Book Bag", "Reading Scheme" and "Nursery/Home toys" that happen daily or weekly. Also we have occasional events such as our "Sessions in with your child" or "Allotment Help".

All of these are explained below

We also always welcome comments to improve our current practice. We are always trying to improve ourselves as professionals and like to hear your comments where we can improve as a team.

Some of our current Nursery/Home Initiatives

  • Book Bag- Each child recieves a Book Bag on entry to nursery, in their book bag is a reading book that is changed daily, and a diary to maintain Nursery/Home communication.

  • Reading Scheme- The Reading Scheme is something that we do as the children begin the process of transition into "Big School". They each bring home one of our "Oxford Reading Tree" reading books and a "Reading Record" where there is an opportunity for you to comment and answer the questions set by the key worker.

  • Nursery/Home Toys- Elmer the Elephant and Rory the Lion have been two of the toys that have taken part in our Nursery/Home Toy scheme. The idea behind this is that each weekend a child will bring home one of the cuddly toys and it's diary, and spend some time with them, doing some of the things that they get up to at home. The diary is there for you to write a journal of your time with the cuddly toy, and also add photos

  • Sessions in with your child- Once a year we invite you into nursery to spend some time with your child in their Nursery environment. We plan activities for you to complete with your child, and also encourage you to get involved in some of our favourite things, such as painting, outside play and songtime.

  • Allotment Help- We also encourage our parent/carers to get involved at our Allotment. The children really enjoy having their parent/carer over at the allotment as we all get our fingers dirty, digging, weeding and watering as we watch our plants grow.
